How to be more like a Cockroach

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back <3  Following up on last week's post   in which I wrote about the importance of being adaptable towards a situation and to taking it how it goes, today's post is based on my top 3 ways of implying the same. These are methods that have worked really well for me but one thing I kept in mind before practicing them was to mentally accept the fact that it won't happen overnight. It's a slow process but one which is definitely worth it.  Without further ado, let's get to it! This is probably just step 'A' of Adaptability. Accepting the fact that new things isn't always necessarily bad is the first way you should set your mindset to help you take situations easier. Even though it's natural to want to resist change, try and build up your ability to adapt and respond positively by physically changing your behaviour next time you are faced with a change-goes a long way tbh. In continuation to the previous point,  this one focuss

Be A Cockroach

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome back!! Aaj ka post is based on something which we've all been through and unknowingly got out of.   Trivia question: Which creature can survive in any condition? Answer : Cockroaches.  (and tardigrades too, but let's go with a more common example) They are considered to be one of the hardest groups of creatures. It is an incredibly adaptive insect, having adjusted to the changes of the earth and its inhabitants for these hundreds of millions of years. "So, how is that connected to Mental Health? Isn't that simply biology?" is perhaps what you might be thinking right now.  Let me answer your question :) As humans, adapting to a particular situation is a frequent struggle. Life constantly throws lemons and more often than not, we're not able to make lemonade out of it.  It can be any circumstance- class shuffles, shifting or even losing someone. It's a hard grapple to overcome to the situation quick if you don't have great adaptabil

Emotional Support Animals

Hello everyone! Welcome back <3 Don't we all love animals? Well this post is another reason for the same :) I recently watched a tv show called 'The Healing Powers of Dude' on Netflix which led to the inspiration of writing this post. We've all heard of a term called 'support animals', perhaps even come across it in real life; but do we completely understand the concept behind it? In today's post I'll be breaking down the basics of this term and the benefits it provided its users with.  To start off, What are 'Emotional Support Animals'? An Emotional Support Animal is an animal that provides therapeutic benefit to a person suffering from a serious mental health condition. They are used in clinical settings to bring comfort by their presence and other possessed qualities to individuals in need. Their presence alone is what is thought to provide their owner with solace and therapeutic benefit. How are they different from pets? In most cases dog

The Glorification of Eating Disorders

Image
Eating Disorders have often been misperceived which has led to multiple repercussions.  They have been ignored, as well as, misdiagnosed . However, a factor common to both is that it has become a "trend" to have some sort of a disorder-now in the limelight- Eating Disorders . Not only is this wrong, but the reason people endorse in this is because they are unaware of what it actually is. This fad is not good and has to be brought to a full stop; No Mental Disorders are something to be joked about. That being said, to prevent further misconception about this topic, let's clear out What exactly is an "Eating Disorder"? In simple words, it is a serious mental illness, characterised by eating, exercise and body weight or shape becoming an unhealthy lifestyle of someone's life.  One tries using food to manage their feelings. They tend to have an baleful relationship with food. This may be eating too much or too little food. Maybe eating a lot of food in one sitti

Sleeping is an extremely vital thing for us which a majority of us fail to follow. It is as important to us as drinking, eating and breathing. I'm not gonna get much into detail about how it's beneficial for us physically rather I would like to tell ya'll something about how it affects you mentally. 1)   I cannot emphasize this enough but sleeping really calms you down. Nervous about an exam? Having an anxiety attack? Change into your comfy ware and SLEEP! Doesn't matter if it's a
