World Mental Health Day!

 Hey everyone!

Welcome back!!

Aaj ka post is a little different.

Why? BECAUSE ITS A COLLABORATIVE ONE!!

Recently, I had collaborated with a youth organisation known as @theworldunheard on their Instagram platform! Today's post is based mainly on what I did during the week and the importance of the activities :)

Without further ado, let's get to it!

'Our world unheard'  is a youth led social media activism platform that discusses social, political and environmental issues that don’t receive the media coverage that they deserve. Dedicated to raising awareness about issues like feminism, the LGBTQ community, political crisis and laws, and so much more, they share awareness in the form of posts and stories every day. It was started in May of 2020, and has grown to 2 teams, with a total of 16 members working on creating content and raising awareness.

Social media has become a platform for education and information in this digital age, especially for younger audience, and teaching viewers about issues they may not have heard about is helping the generation grow, and stay aware of the world around us.

The team and I worked together for about a month or two to have our efforts pay off in the first week of October.

October 10th is celebrated worldwide as 'World Mental Health Day'. For this great pomp of an occasion we had planned various activities over the week from October 3rd to 10th.

Some of them included audience interactions, a thread of posts discussing the importance of this day and its history and even a few story games too!

Here's a bit about the history and importance of this day!

World Mental Health Day was observed for the first time on 10 October 1992. It was started as an annual activity of the World Federation for Mental Health. The day is officially commemorated every year at the same day.

At the beginning, the Day had no particular theme. Its goals were general ones of promoting mental health advocacy and teaching the general public on relevant issues. With time, each year a new trope began to be set -this year's being: 'Mental Health in an Unequal World'.

The second activity we had planned was having audience conversations. We had a huge number of people who came out to us about their own story anonymously.

Unnamed or not, having the means of coming out to people about your own struggles is something we aimed at to reduce the stigma surrounding this topic which was the reason why we conducted this activity.

Aside from these, we also had events such as Fact or Fiction and Thursday Trivia!

I'm not going to discuss all the activities we did over this week; you're going to have to check out their Instagram account for that! We still have plans for 2 more days and a huge surprise on Sunday,10th October's evening so stay tuned for that!

That was it for today's post!

Hope y'all enjoyed it! Go check out their Instagram handle for more and don't forget to share and comment for more!

Signing off,

Kuhu :)
