Benefits of Crying

Heyy!

Welcome back!

So, a couple of months ago I wrote on why we should normalize crying around us because it was kind of a stigma that stuck around in the air. However, what I realised was that the reason a lot of people try "holding it in" is because they don't really know the benefits to crying.

"Why should I cry? How will it help me? It's just gonna make me weak."

I've had countless encounters with people when they've said such a thing and to console them by explaining to them why it's okay to let it out, which is why, I also wanted to let y'all know about the top 5 'unknown' perks of crying.

  • We're all pretty familiar with the fact that crying improves your mood or makes you happy but did you know it also improves your vison?
How do you feel after a hectic day when you haven’t had a chance to drink much water? Chances are you’re quite thirsty and possibly a bit dehydrated. Our bodies require water to keep us going and to help us stay hydrated. Our eyes aren’t much different from the rest of our bodies; they too, need water to stay hydrated. When we cry we're indirectly  supporting to re-hydrate our eyes that could help increase our capacity to attention our eyes and enhance our overall vision.

  • It strengthens our relationship with others. Yes. It doesn't make you weak in their eyes. Crying does make us feel more vulnerable and we frequently attempt to keep away from crying in the front of others at all costs. When we can’t keep it in any more though, we're frequently left feeling ashamed or embarrassed. However, crying in the front of others shouldn’t be regarded as a awful thing. When we cry in the front of others we're inviting them to look a different aspect of us. They can see our emotions and feelings in a manner that no phrases can portray. This can create a deeper emotional bond among family, friends, and people around us.

  • It cleanses you. Under the right circumstances, a good cry is cleansing and leaves you feeling lighter and extra capable of cope. However, you need to train your self so that it can spot the distinction between a healthy cry and an unhealthy one. While a good cry is soothing, an unhealthy cry stemming from self-pity can result in you blaming others in your issues with out identifying a way to cope with the troubles you are confronted with.

  • It signals to others that you need support. When someone witnesses some other person tearing up, their natural response is to run and comfort the soul in need. And although the character crying doesn’t recognize it, they teared up because that’s what they wanted. Crying is a key attachment behaviour meant to elicit care and comfort from close ones during life. At the end of the day, the best form of comfort comes with the sense of human touch, and even our our bodies subconsciously apprehend this.

  • It releases stress. I'm telling you from personal experience, that I strongly agree with this fact. Whether its before an important exam or just some major event that's taking place, we oven tend to get overwhelmed and can't express ourselves in any other way but crying; but have you ever noticed? After a good crying session you feel better? You released the excessive stress with tears. You can combat the situation better and you get more energy to go do the task.
Stop holding it in because the more you do, the worse it gets.
Open up to someone about it, tell them everything on your mind, they CAN help you.

Okay! So that was it for today. Drop your thoughts in the comments below and don't forget to share and subscribe for more every friday! Also thank you so so much for the response on my previous post! My dm's were literally overflowing :)

Signing off,
Kuhu :)
