Types of Procrastinators

 Hi everyone and welcome back!

If you have been following me since the beginning of my journey, you may have noticed that I have thrown limelight procrastination by basing a few posts on them.

Today's post is yet another super demanded post, however, is only slightly linked to 'teenage mental health' - the niche of my blog.

Nevertheless, hope y'all enjoy reading it and without further ado, let's get to it!

Procrastinators can broadly be classified under 3 groups.
If you google them the results look something like this:

1. The Perfectionist

These are the type of people who tend to spend so much time thinking over their task or solving one minute issue that they end up wasting the entire time dedicated to the task. They ideally procrastinate when they are overwhelmed with the fear of producing work of a low standard, or fear of failing, and in a few cases victims of OCD.

2. The Avoider

Or whom I like to call, the 'ho jayega' one's.
These constitute the people who typically boast about how much time they have to complete the task and are ironically also the one's burning the midnight oil and producing incompetent results. I’m sure there’s at least one task on your to-do list that you’ve been putting off for weeks, if not months, right? This is because these tasks do not need to be done right away, resulting in you pushing the task further and further back - much like most student's do with an assignment deadline.

Another type of group of people who come into this are also the 'Crisis makers'
I've personally interacted with many of my fellow classmates who claim that they work "best under pressure" and that's why they leave tasks till the end moment.

My advice, even if you do work better, maybe give it a try to actually finish your work when you have the time and spend the remaining time you would have 'under pressure' doing something more productive?

3. The Busy One

Now full disclosure, I used to be one of them until 8th grade.
These people are those who have a hard time prioritizing the important work over non essentials thus potentially waste time doing something which is not very important at the moment.
They are often subjected to many distractions such as television or books which can easily grab your attention away from a boring task and engross you for hours, without even realizing how much time you actually wasted.

A common trait you might notice among all of them is that it is fueled by the power of fear.
Fear of being incompetent and laziness.

Use this fear and turn it into a power tool.
What I personally do is when things start over piling, is use that voice in my head and change my perspective towards a task.

Combat the voice by becoming the voice.
Fear of the work not being up to the mark? Work and get it up to your level.
Fear of avoiding something because it's boring? Talk back and say that it will get a lot worse if you don't do it now.

Hope you enjoyed reading the post as much as I enjoyed writing it!
