Self Obsession vs. Self Love

 Hello everyone and welcome back!

Keep reading to find out how I incorporate Bollywood into this post, yet again :)

I'm sure we've all met a few narcissistic people in our life, right?
Needless to say, it's annoying to talk to one. They come off as 'full of themselves', egoistic or simply ignorant, believing the whole world revolves around them.

The confusion however lies in the fact that many people tend to think being self-obsessed (narcissism) is the same as Self Love (an extremely important component of our Mental Health.)

So, without further ado, let's break the difference between the two!

What is "Self Obsession"

Poo (Kareena Kapoor) from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.

Someone who is so into themselves that they forget that there are other people around; a bit egoistic and well, very vain. They tend to come off as selfish due to their self-centered attitude, and usually, they're not the most favourite person in the group.
(P.S. Don't be this person)

On the other hand,

What is "Self Love"

Geet (again, Kareena Kapoor) from Jab We Met.

Treating yourself right, kindly, not at a major cost to others.
It is a positive trait. Loving yourself means having a good understanding of both your strengths and weaknesses and knowing what's the right choice for you in a particular situation.
I'll be elaborating more on how we can focus more on self-love, soon.
(Preview: It's not taking a 2-week vacation or a fancy product bubble bath)

Expressing self-love is the kind of person you should strive to be. It's a good thing.

That was it for today's post!
Don't forget to share and follow for more content, every Friday!

    Signing off,
Kuhu :)
