Life Lessons from YJHD

Hello hello and welcome back to month 34! of #faltufridays :)

I think it's time we make things official - This blog is a dedicated Bollywood fan club haha!
To commemorate the same, today's blog post is the first of many bi-annual Bollywood-based blogs so without further ado, let's get right to it!

As many of you know, I had previously written a blog post on why I'm the real-life version of Naina Talwaar from the movie, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

This year, on 31st May, marks the 10-year anniversary of this iconic film and I could think of no better topic than to share some of the precious life lessons (the non-cliched ones) this movie imparts.

Starting off with number 1,

Stop feeling bad for yourself and start loving who you are. You're fine, just the way you are.

(Khud pe daya karna band karo, aur khud see pyaar karna seekho. Tum jesi ho, bilkul theek ho.)
                                                                                                ~Bunny

A lot of times, we tend to overlook our qualities and focus on others' successes. This line reminds us to stay true to ourselves and accept ourselves for who we are.

Number 2

I can't even give myself a Sunday off. This is how much I have to study

(Main apne aap ko Sunday ko bhi chutti nahi de sakhti, itna padhna padhta hai mujhe)
                                                                                                ~Naina

It goes without saying that with increasing age, comes increasing studies. But to what extent can we grind with no breaks? No hanging out with friends; always stuck inside the books? While looking realistically, it's not possible to pack your bags and leave for a spontaneous trip the next day, it still reminds us that in building a career, don't forget to live a little.

Number 3

Give it some time, it'll all become alright

(Kuch vaqt do, sab theek ho jayega)
                                                                                                ~Naina

This is my life motto. Be it the burning throat of nervousness, a breakdown from stress or coping up with loss. It all fades eventually. You're going to overcome it and the event will not look so daunting after a while. This line was also mentioned for the very first in my blog website time in my first-ever blog post!

Number 4

No matter how much you try, you're bound to miss something or the other. So wherever you are, enjoy it.

(Jitna bhi try karlo bunny, life mei kuch an kuch toh chootega hi. Toh jahan hai, vahi ka mazaa lete hai)
                                                                                                ~Naina

It's true. Just soak it in and accept that the road you've taken is taken. It may be the right one but it may also be wrong. But you've taken it and no turnbacks. Instead of brooding, appreciate the beauty it possesses and live life.

Number 5

To get to somewhere, you have to move from somewhere.

(Kahin Pahuchne ke liye, kahin se nikalna padta hai
                                                                                ~Bunny

I'll let you interpret this dialogue for yourself but leave you with one question: How long can you stay stuck in your comfort zone?

These were a few of my favourite dialogues that resonated a bunch with me from this film.
Bollywood is meant to amplify "a little" here and there. It's how it keeps you engaged with the film.
But remember, behind each film is a deeper meaning than you might think. Appreciate the writers behind it!

And if you haven't watched the movie yet, I hope this blog post inspires you to!

Let me know if you want me to do a similar blog post soon and drop your suggestions below. Don't forget to share and follow for more :)

Signing off,

Kuhu :)
