The C² Crisis

Most of us have probably consumed these two products on a weekly basis, if not daily, in our lives.

Coffee and Chewing Gum.

It's addiction is more common than you might think.

Now, I'm sure you're all familiar with the effects it has on your physical health, right?
But the lesser known fact is, the consumption of this can greatly affect your mental health as well.

In today's post we'll be looking at some of the effects it has so without further ado, let's get to it!

Coffee.

Though research has found that caffeine can certainly help your energy levels and deal with splinting headaches, it has a terrible impact on your stress levels and sleep cycle
It's addiction is unique. You know you are consuming it in high amounts, however, aren't able to survive the day without one, which may or may not lead to overconsumption of the same.

Just a few examples are these:

It produces symptoms that can easily be confused with anxiety disorders, such as panic attacks.
Too much caffeine can also worsen it by intensifying the feelings of worry, racing thoughts, increasing heart rate, and disrupting a good-quality sleep.
In other words, it makes you jittery.

Though you require the boost sometimes, such as in the case of teenagers where you have to stay up occasionally to complete assignments and need the energy that only coffee can provide you to get through, the more often you implement that, the worse it gets.

Keep in mind, the sudden retort of the same can also adversely affect your health.
Coffee is not something you should just immediately cut off from your life, but, consciously try to reduce the intake of the same as it can have harmful effects.

We now move to the next C.

Chewing Gum.

This is one which I myself wasn't acquainted with until recently.
Though dentistry has found that the daily consumption of it is TERRIBLE for your teeth, other research states that it's usage occasionally is actually good.

The reason why most students have a packet of gum handy with them is because it increases your level of concentration by lowering your stress and anxiety levels.
Chewing gum is associated with greater alertness and a more positive mood and helps with sustained attention thus abolishing the scope for procrastination in one.

It is a great relaxant but again, if you do it daily, it can have damaging effects like muscle spasms and impact to your teeth.

That was it for today's post. Drop in your thoughts and views in the comments below.
This post is not propagating the idea to cut down completely on utilization, but to bring into limelight that if you don't have it on a controlled basis it will affect you greatly.
In simple words, too much of anything is bad.
