Glow Ups.

Image
Hello everyone!     Welcome backzo :) Aaj ka post is based on something nearly all of us can relate to. Glow ups. Tell me I'm not the only one who's guilty of searching "How to have a glow up in 2 weeks" or "How to glow up over the summer" on Pinterest. Something common that's found in all these posts is that they always indicate weight loss, an insane amount of water intake, face masks  and of course, waking up at 5am (bruh how?) . We've all tried our luck at this and frankly, the chances of it working are 1 in a million. The reason? They're unrealistic and forced. When you force yourself to do any activity, there are negligible chances you will enjoy and succeed in it.   Instead of focussing on frivolous activities such as the above, focus on your present and important things that DO matter in the long run, such as academics (they are not a 100% of your life, but they are important.) Don't get me wrong; there's nothing wrong with hav

What's So Weird About This?

Image
Hey everyone and Welcome back! With the growing rate of mental issues among the youth, seeking help to combat the same has become the need of the hour. Today's post is going to be a "revamp", of my previously authored post( Read here! ) focussing more on why more than how. Happy reading! Going to Therapy. Society has unnecessarily made this a very "hush-hush" topic; and I fail to see the reason why. What's wrong about wanting to seek help? Mental issues aren't as easily visible or diagnosable as compared to a physical ailment.  Let me explain with the help of an example: You fall sick. You get fever. You know that these are the symptoms of a fever and take some meds and get better soon. If after a while the symptoms don't subside, you go to a doctor to check if it's something else. It's the same with the brain involved. You may feel sad or angry or any emotion for that matter. You'll try to get yourself through it with whatever technique

Be a Mental Health Ally

Image
(Hint: It's super easy!) Hey everyone and welcome back! When we think of the term "Ally", many of us often have a stereotypical picture of someone aggressive/bold, holding huge posters, marching on the street in the back of our minds. While this is true for a few cases, sometimes, being an ally doesn't mean doing all the above; rather just taking a few measures yourself to make the world a better, a more inclusive space. So, in today's post, I'll be sharing 3 (super easy) ways you can be a Mental Health ally-for free! Being an ally and making jokes about Mental Health is one of the most hypocritic things you can ever do.  Don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong about speaking about your own mental health with a bit of humour but when you choose to say terms such as " Bro, depression ho gaya ", you're indirectly contributing to the stigma. Mental Health is not something to be joked about. It's an extremely serious topic a

(Not the one in our history textbook but in chemistry!) Hey everyone and welcome back! I've been studying Chemistry since 7th grade and every year, we have mostly the same chapters but just a more complex version of it.  This blog post idea   clicked me in the middle of my chemistry class in 11th grade and I thought it would be the perfect analogy to explain a concept relating to our Mental Health - Opinions. Without further ado, Let's get to it!

Heat and (Mental) Health

Image
" They have a link?!" This was my first thought when I came across this 'weird' but true correlation.  We've all heard (and probably experienced) the physical effects of heat waves.  Today, I'll be elaborating on the Mental Health side of it! Without further ado, let's get to it. `Temperatures in India can rise up to anywhere between 40 - 50 degrees Celsius during the summer season. This leads to extreme agitation among residents and can lead to extreme levels of various emotions, the most common one being anger. This anger leads to stress . Other effects include heatstroke, lethargy, and dehydration. Another impact of the same is that it may lead to hospitalizations which further adds to mental stress alongside a financial burden.  Heat waves cause extreme temperatures an can impair a person's cognitive abilities, increase the gravity of an already existing aggressive behavior, or influence people to do or say stuff they normally wouldn't. It mak

Self Gaslighting

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome backzo <3 I'm sure we've all heard of the term "gaslighting" or watched several cases of this in movies. A term which has recently gained popularity, Gaslighting can be defined as  " Manipulating someone so as to make them question their own reality." There is also a derivative of this term, titled, Self Gaslighting, which is similar to the above definition, except you're doing it to yourself.   It's sort of like the voice in your head   becomes your own tormentor. In today's post, I'm gonna talk about What Self-Gaslighting looks like , and in next week's post, how to deal with the same. Without further ado,  Let's get to it! "I'm being oversensitive" "I didn’t experience 'real' trauma." "They didn't mean that" Something that all 3 of these statements have in common is that it minimizes your own feelings and spirals you into constantly doubting and blaming yours

Embarrassing Moments in School

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back <3 We've all at some point been through epically hilarious and embarrassing moments at school.  Many at times, the situation may have landed us in trouble and also led to a great amount of overthinking , but nevertheless, we've got ourselves out of it pretty soon.  I recently went through a very embarrassing situation at school (haha I'm not disclosing what happened), and the way I handled the situation led to a ✨moment of past reflection✨ Back when I was in 7th grade, I used to freak out whenever I went through anything  that would involve me coming under the limelight - I'm talking profuse sweating and a burning sensation in the throat freak out.  Now, in 11th Grade, when I went through (what I went through at school), I didn't have this feeling for the first time. Instead, I laughed it off.  And that's when it hit me - laughing it off was the best solution. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not implying that we should laugh

The Merchant of Venice: An Alternative Ending

Image
Hey everyone and welcome back to #faltufriday of month(I lost count). Oh wait it's month 31!! Every last Friday of the year I author a completely random post which relates to my personal life. I read studied The Merchant of Venice for nearly 2 full years during my academic life. Contrary to the popular opinion of most students, it was a good play.  I for one really enjoyed reading it for 2 years, anticipating it's ending, and it was one fine Friday, about 3 months before my board exams when I flipped the last page.  And it was NOT what I expected. I was plain disappointed to read the last line - especially because GRATIANO said the last line. My brain went: " No. Just no. Nuh uh. They did not just. WHY HIM. OVER NERISSA?? THEY WERE'NT EVEN THE MAIN PLOT. Bruh " (yeah that's pretty accurate) So, I thought, why not come up with a few alternative endings(to the abridged version we studied) myself? Just a disclaimer: This post in no way a critic of the original

Mask off: Insecurity On.

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back <3  The novel coronavirus pandemic came as a bolt out the blue. With schools, shops and public places closing down, fear had filled the air. At the beginning of the global crisis, we were all forced to adapt to a “new normal”. Online activities rose and masks became the new uniform. However, 3 years down the road, with scientific advancement, we were able to reduce the spread of the virus, so much so that we've reached a 'mask optional' stage. While this is a relieving fact for many, not so much for teenagers of this age.  The reason: Insecurity. This fact may sound dumb to most of you, it's a reality that people are insecure of having their masks off.  Acne, puberty, social expectations and several other image conscious factors are a major contributor to this feeling.  Many people were glad to be wearing masks to cover these features of theirs that they were embarrassed of; and finally having a valid excuse. It served as a blanket again
