Social Media- A Boon or a Bane?

Image
Hey everyone! Welcome back to month 8 of #faltufriday where I talk about something totally random which alot of ya'll might relate to :) Today's post is based on a topic which I'm pretty sure every single one of us has written an essay on or debated upon in school EVERY YEAR! With the academic year coming to an end, due to the pandemic, I don't think most of us wrote an essay on it (for the millionth time) which is why I decided, why not write it on my blog to refresh 'old' memories😂 This is undoubtedly on of the most controversial topics of all time that is similarly cherished and hated relying on the polarizing behaviour. For some, it’s a must and for few, it’s a curse. We all recognise what social media is and the way over the years, with the net being the catalyst, has impacted our daily lives. I for one stand for the fact that social media is a boon; especially during these times. Technology is something that is constantly evolving; every minute somethin

Imposter Syndrome

Image
Heyy! Welcome back! I recently came across a post on Instagram which spoke about this topic in general and it seemed like a really interesting one and I wanted to get to know more about it. So, I read about it and it started getting more and more riveting with every word and I thought to myself, why not write more about this topic? I wrote about this topic in brief a couple of months ago in one of my posts  and got a really great response to it and had lot of people texting me saying they wanted me to write more on the "Impostor Syndrome" so without further ado, lets get to it! Impostor syndrome can be described as an internal experience of believing that you aren't as able as others perceive you to be. While this definition is generally narrowly applied to intelligence and achievement, it has connections to perfectionism and the social context. To put it simply, imposter syndrome is the experience of feeling like a phony—you sense as though at any second you're goi

Dear Diary

Image
Heyy! Welcome back! So, about a year ago, I started having anxiety attacks because of different stressors around me. After a while when they started to get serious, a friend of mine told me that if I'm not able to talk to someone about it and if I want to keep it in my control, I should start writing them down. I should start keeping a track on the days I get them and the severity of them. I cannot describe how grateful I am to them for giving me this method to cope with it because it has worked magic. Over time, I realised that this doesn't apply just for anxiety attacks and can be put to use in any aspect of life. It doesn't always have to be stress. It can be applied when you're feeling low or feeling insecure or just want your rant your feelings out. What I followed was not a typical 'Dear Diary...' regime but something what I just felt I would just scream into someone's face. Obviously, I can't do that in real life hence choosing to write it down is

Benefits of Crying

Image
Heyy! Welcome back! So, a couple of months ago I wrote on  why we should normalize crying   around us because it was kind of a stigma that stuck around in the air. However, what I realised was that the reason a lot of people try "holding it in" is because they don't really know the benefits to crying.  "Why should I cry? How will it help me? It's just gonna make me weak." I've had countless encounters with people when they've said such a thing and to console them by explaining to them why it's okay to let it out, which is why, I also wanted to let y'all know about the top 5 'unknown' perks of crying. We're all pretty familiar with the fact that crying improves your mood or makes you happy but did you know it also improves your vison?  How do you feel after a hectic day when you haven’t had a chance to drink much water? Chances are you’re quite thirsty and possibly a bit dehydrated. Our bodies require water to keep us going and t

Am I Doing Everything Wrong?

Image
Am I doing everything wrong? Why can't I ever get it right? Is this not the correct way? "Oh my God, just get up and fight." It's been so long I can't seem to do it  I feel like giving up She says "Shut up, go for a run and get mentally fit!" They will laugh at me They'll talk behind my back "So what?" she said, "Just go and have a snack." I'm doing this wrong I have the instinct  This is not the way others do it She said, "You can be distinct!" I don't have the time I don't have the press She said, "Who cares?" "Stop taking so much stress!" I've been doing it for so long I've found no outcome Should I just give up? " Please get this thought out of your system" I'll be the talk of the town Once everything opens up THEY'LL TALK ABOUT ME "Mhmm, yup" So..? Is this how it ends? Me spiralling down a vertigo "Just chill!" screamed that voice in my

OCD - Myths vs Facts

Image
There's a common misconception that if you want to meticulously arrange your things, keep your hands clean, or plan out your weekend to the last detail, you are OCD. In fact, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is a critical psychiatric condition this is often misunderstood by a lot of people. In my earlier post( Check it out here! ), I spoke about how people seem to "romanticize" OCD and just proclaim having it without knowing what it really is. A lot of you texted me saying that I should do a post on quashing OCD myths so let's get to it :) Number One: A common sign of OCD is an obsession with cleanliness — which includes continuously washing your palms or excessively cleansing household items. But a cleanliness complex can also be a character trait. If it’s a personality trait, you've got got control — you could select to do it or not. If you have obsessive compulsive disorder, you’re doing it out of unrelenting debilitating anxiety. The difference needs to be

Anxious Vs Anxiety

Image
Recently, I came across a post on Instagram which was entitled 'things you do when you have anxiety' and honestly it just irked me so much on how they had gotten the entire concept of it wrong and were spreading the wrong idea.  What the video described was ' being anxious'  and not 'anxiety'  and the entire comments section was flooded with it.  After a couple of days of really thinking it through, I knew I had to write on this because the misconception is still prevalent and NEEDS to be debunked. What is 'Being Anxious' ? You could say its another name for 'stress' or an appropriate response to a stressful situation. It doesn’t manifest often, and it’s suitable to what’s going on. People feel concerned or anxious about some thing, however it passes, and it doesn’t intervene with different areas of life. You get anxious earlier than an crucial examination or an occasion however it would not stick alongside for later; which is the case in havin

Procrastination

Image
Procrastination is the act of delaying or putting off tasks until the last minute, or past their deadline. Let's admit it, we all do it, and it comes back to bite us in the worst way every time. Nevertheless, we still don't learn from it and still continue doing it :P  A lot of y'all have often asked me how I manage to juggle between school, tuition, writing a blog, taking part in extracurricular and still managing to find time to binge shows on Netflix and sleep for long; I think the answer to that is- not procrastinating.    I learnt it the hard way but trust me, its worth it once you get a hold of it.  You, yourself will realize how many activities you can perform in a day if you just stop dilly-dallying. Why do we do it? In simple words, we often assume that projects won't take as long to finish as they really will, which can lead to a false sense of security when we believe that we still have plenty of time to complete these tasks. We feel lazy or get bored while

Heyy! Welcome back to month 6 (OMG 6?!) of #faltufriday where I talk about something totally random. Aaj ka post is based on my passion for photography and how I relish performing it. Now I'm not the kind of person who understands literature and 'hidden meaning' inside pictures blah blah; like I can never do that kinda stuff :P  I really enjoy nature photography; mainly of water bodies and trees. Here are few of my favourite clicks and the stories behind why I love them. Number 1:  Bruadarach  I am personally very fond of this click because it shows the real beauty of nature. There's zero filters applied on this picture and the image just gives out calm vibes to me.  It exhibits a very serene and quite atmosphere and the serendipity of the colours in the sky is just exhilarating. I took this picture a couple of weeks ago and have been obsessed ever since. I love it because this scene was there for just a second I knew that I needed to take THE shot and I did. Most of yo

FOMO

Image
A couple of days ago, I asked you all on my social media accounts on what you thought having FOMO is like and I was really shocked with the responses I got. Some of you gave direct facts that made sense and there were some which did not so much. Here were a few of your responses: To comprehend, fear of missing out is a social tension stemmed from the perception that others are probably having amusing even as the individual experiencing the tension isn't present. It is characterised with the aid of using a preference to live constantly related to what others are doing. FOMO is likewise described as a worry of regret, which can also additionally cause issues that one may omit a possibility for social interaction, a singular enjoy or a worthwhile investment. It is the concern that identifying now no longer to take part is the wrong choice. What are its negative impacts on our Mental Health? It seems likely that too much FOMO harms your mental health.
